Basics of a Super Late Model A "Super Late Model" is basically as the name implies, a "Late Model" Racecar on Steroids! The following is a list of the basic requirements of a Super Late Model. Engine: up to 400 cubic inch small block engines. Must run a "Spec" Brodix Aluminum Cylinder head and a 500 cfm 2 barrel carburetor with a 500 cfm restrictor plate. Must use a Solid lifter cam (no Rollers), 11.0 to 1 compression ratio maximum. We must run a wetsump oil system but we are allowed to use external oil pumps. These engines make approximately 500 horsepower on Spec Race Gas Chassis/Bodies: Composite bodies (Fiberglass and ABS) on a full tube chassis. 3000 pounds minimum weight, 10" wide Goodyear spec tires, A-Arm front suspension with Coilovers, 9" Ford rearends with coilovers. A Jericho 2 speed manual transmission rounds out the driveline. Even though we have to use certain "spec" parts (to limit speeds and make the racecars safer) these are VERY high tech racecars with lots and lots of "state of the art" parts throughout. Come by our pits after an event and get a close up look and even sit inside our Super Late Model! |
