Star Motorcycles V-twin horsepower once again shook the South as Patrick Racing teammates Rick McWaters and Jeremy English powered to another 1-2 finish at the Lucas Oil Spring Nationals drag races at Virginia Motorsports Park in Richmond on the weekend of April 30-May 1. When the burnout smoke finally cleared, Star Motorcycles filled out the top seven slots in the Hot Rod Cruiser class. In Saturday’s qualifying, English topped the field in only his third event aboard his 160+ horsepower Star Warrior, edging out reigning class Champion and points leader McWaters. Then in Sunday’s racing, McWaters and English advanced through the field with methodical precision. The final brought a familiar scene: Patrick Racing teammates squaring off in an ultimate showdown. When the lights flashed to green, McWaters won with a 9.251-second pass at a terminal speed of 143.75 mph. English shadowed him with a swift 9.550 second run with a terminal speed of 141.20 mph. Heading into the next round in St. Louis in early June, McWaters and English are running 1-2 in the points standings. With five more chances for the Patrick Racing teammates to duke it out, it’s sure to be to be a hard-fought season full of Star Motorcycle thunder.
