Yamaha first connected with MotoGP star Colin Edwards when he was riding minimotocross, and AMA roadracer Jason DiSalvo when he was just 18. Who’s the next Blue and White superstar in training? It may just be 15-year-old Georgia phenomenon Josh Herrin. Graves Motorsports, Yamaha’s official satellite road-race team, has inked Herrin to compete in AMA Supersport beginning on May 23, the day Herrin turns 16 and becomes eligible for a professional license. Until then, the 10th grader will stay plenty busy contesting the WERA National Challenge aboard a Graves Motorsports YZF-R6. “Chuck Graves has done a great job with our support team and has been on the lookout for young riders,” said Tom Halverson, Yamaha Road Race Team Manager. “It’s rare when you can connect with this kind of talent right at the beginning of their career. It was great that Chuck found him and established a relationship with Josh and his father. If he keeps going he’ll be another one of Yamaha’s future stars like Colin or Jason.”
