July Chapter Ride

Debi’s Ride Route & Mariposa Picnic

Well we were supposed to ride to Big Bear and Visit Big Bear Choppers. We had a slight mix-up in regards to what we were going to do there once we arrived. It turns out we can tour their facilities all week long but not the weekends. So we decided to ride the route we pick out for Debi’s Ride for Children.

This ride was clock at 2 hours long and took us from Azusa Canyon (east fork) to Mt. Baldy Road. We ended the ride at Red Hill Park to show the members where we are hold this year’s event. This route has many challenges, like a lot of twisty turns, 1000 ft cliffs and plenty of on coming traffic with portions of the road without a center divider line.

After checking out Red Hill Park it was time to head down to the Mariposa Picnic. We called the ride at Red Hill and decided to make the Mariposa Picnic completely voluntary for anyone who wanted to attend. I wasn’t surprised when almost everyone wanted to go. Man am I glad we did, they had all kinds of food, firemen with there big red fire truck, booths set up for the kids to play games and best of all they wanted some of our bike on the lawn so the kids can take pictures on them. Yea they left plenty of finger prints but no one cared. Thank you Doug and LouAnn for letting the kids use you bike for finger painting..

As it turned out not going to Big Bear was no big deal, (we’ll move that ride to a later date). I think everyone can say we had just as much fun doing the ride route and visiting with the kids from the Mariposa Foundation.

I want to give a special thanks to Sandy and Irv Cassel. Sandy had decided to put up a challenge of $40.00 for everyone to match so we can donate it to Louise and the Mariposa Foundation. We raised $220.00 that morning, congratulations Sandy.

See you all on the next one.
