Our June Chapter Ride was to the Ronald Reagan Library.

The day started out to be pretty warm. During our regular chapter meeting we decided to vote weather or not to ride in the heat and go some place much cooler. We voted and decided on going to the library as planned.

We did our usual business for our meeting and headed out. Yes indeed it was really warm. I think the temperature was 100 to 105 degrees. Some of the stretches of road seamed like someone was holding a blow dryer to your face and then right after the heat blast we ran into some cool spots, it made for a very interesting ride.

When we pulled up to the library we were able to drive through the compound and park right behind the Air Force One Hanger. Right next to the hanger was a Jet Fighter that flew next to President Reagan’s Air Force One.

In the library was something else. They had some real interesting history on display. Not only was it filled with Ronald Reagan memorabilia, they had some pieces from past presidents like, Washington, Eisenhower, Clinton, George Bush I and many more. They also dedicated a large portion to the formal first lady Nancy Reagan.

From the replication of the Oval Office, President Reagan actual diary and his actual desk he used to write some of his most famous speeches.

I think everyone’s favorite was being able to tour President Reagan’s Air Force One. We were not allowed to take picture inside, but we took plenty of pictures outside. During is time this plane was a big one. It doesn’t compare to today’s air force one, but it was real cool to see what it must have been like during his presidency.

If you agree with the Reagan policies or not, you have to admit that during his presidency it sure was an interesting time. And you have a chance to see for yourself just what it was like.

See you at Big Bear!
